Professional Training

Professional staff training key to any good risk management plan and to the safe operation of any aerial adventure structure. And yet, it is often one of the most overlooked aspects of ropes course and climbing tower operations. An aerial adventure course can be professionally designed, properly inspected, and impeccably maintained, but without a trained, competent staff the safety and accident prevention system isn’t complete.

To minimize participant and staff risk and to protect a program’s integrity, it is important to have staff properly trained and ready to deal with any situations that might arise. Many camps and commercial adventure facilities rely solely on internal training year after year, which can lead to the development of bad habits, a slackening of diligence, and ultimately an unsafe operating environment.

ACCT standards strongly recommend that adventure providers utilize a third party for their staff training/and or assessment every year. This refresher helps to sharpen a program and plug operational holes that develop over time and increase the potential for an accident.

For nearly three decades, clients have relied on The Adventure Guild to provide their staff with top-notch challenge course, climbing wall, zip line and aerial adventure course training, and help them to build a better, safer, and more professional challenge course program. We provide training for courses that we design and build as well as for courses built by others.

In-House Trainer Credentialing

Even though we are big proponents of third-party training/assessment, we know that there are many qualified and capable people who are employed by both traditional challenge course programs and commercial adventure operations. And that when these qualified people are retained long-term, they are a valuable asset to organization and their training program.

Because of this, The Adventure Guild developed an innovative program that we call our In-House Trainer Credentialing, whereby we equip qualifying client employees to train and assess their own program staff, while also having the benefit of a vetted curriculum and documentation oversight. The purpose of the In-House Trainer Program is to train and qualify site-specific in-house trainers. The benefit to our clients is the potential to meet their obligations for having annual staff training by a qualified trainer, while also saving money and acquiring the freedom to provide their staff training at a time that best suits their program’s schedule. The curriculum is designed to take into consideration all types of trainers and courses that are currently being serviced by The Adventure Guild and to align in-house training with the third-party training provided by our company
